The offspring of the legendary musical family got the musical "bug" when he played on the radio at the age of eight. He released his first record at the age of eighteen, touring from Alaska to New Orleans, being celebrated at all the major blues festivals, and playing with such blues legends as Bo Diddley, Charlie Musselwhite, and of course his father John Lee Hooker.

His musical influences include Johnny Guitar Watson, Big Mama Thornton, Jimi Hendrix and B.B. King.
