Tom Gaebel and His Big Band "Don't Wanna Dance" Tour 2009

There are not many of his kind in today's show business. Tom Gaebel - singer, musician, entertainer, arranger, lyricist, band leader, composer - that's a lot for a multi-talent who is only 34 years old. Born into a highly musical family, he started with music lessons at an early age and plays drums, trombone and piano.
But the challenge to this constellation, which Tom Gaebel really knows how to appreciate: making creativity, inspiration, artistic freedom and personal responsibility without compromise a reality, whether on stage or in the studio.
"Don't Wanna Dance" (Release date: 14.11.2008 / Telemedia Music GmbH) - the new and, in the meantime, third solo album from the two-time Jazz Award winner (2006 + 2007) - proves how consistently and diversely Tom Gaebel has expanded his musical horizons since his first solo album "Introducing: Myself" (2005).
While his personality and his music led him to be associated with a captivating revival of swing and jazz in the past, you can now also hear him give free rein to his passion for soul and pop.
His single "So Easy" is in the finest Motown tradition while "Crazy" is a classic pop earworm, and milestones such as "Satisfaction" and "My Baby Just Cares For Me" are dressed up in original and extremely well-fitting new clothes. It's no coincidence that Tom Gaebel is happy about the success of young soul stars like Amy Winehouse. In her work he recognizes a certain kinship when it comes to how soul can sound today. "Old School in the finest sense of the word. Perfect melodies, great vocals, polished arrangements and an opulent sound. This is the great tradition of the 60's and early 70's. I am very excited about how my new program is going to feel onstage. We spent a long time in the studio, now it's about time to get back on the road. 2009 will be a year of concerts."
Most definitely, because Tom Gaebel is one of a kind "live". He sets very high standards for himself: It's the true show stars that impress him, he admires their strong presence.
The all-time favorite Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Stevie Wonder or Tom Jones with his 60's Las Vegas shows - they set the benchmark.
When it comes to charisma and charm, Tom Gaebel does not take a backseat to these role models, and luckily there is a strong alliance of audience and critics that enthusiastically confirm to him after every concert that he is already well on his way.
The singer and musician Tom Gaebel is a true entertainer on stage - this is the deciding factor, this is what makes a difference, and thanks to this gift he belongs to a breed of artists that has become very rare today: He entertains his audience, seeks contact with fans and musicians, is quick-witted, spontaneous and informative. And in the process he has an excellent sense of humor: keen, profound, self-depreciating. For those that would like to see for themselves apart from his concerts, Tom Gaebel's diary entries on his homepage are highly recommended. For example, his description of the video shoot for "So Easy" is absolutely hilarious, brilliantly formulated, and will make you want to agree with those that say that there is yet another talent slumbering in this young man

in the tuxedo.
