40 Years Modern Soul Band

The Modern Soul Band, formed in 1968 by Hugo Laartz, has become synonomous with relaxing soul, jazz, and rock music. The longest-serving German soul band is one of the most important and best-loved bands of the old G.D.R., and is an integral part of today's jazz scene.

There have been many legendary concerts since the band's inception,often with Klaus Lenz and his Modern Soul Big Band in the 70s. The more than 100 musicians that have played for the Modern Soul Big Band reads like a "Who's Who"of the G.D.R. rock scene.

The anniversary concert features old musical friends like Reinhard Lakomy, Regina Doberschütz, Henry Kotowski, Peter Papst, and Conny Bauer, all jamming together on the band's 40^th  birthday.
